Alcarazs Forearm Woes Cast Doubts On French Open Hopes

Alcaraz's Forearm Woes Cast Doubts on French Open Hopes

Spanish Star Claims Dominant First-Round Win Despite Injury

Carlos Alcaraz has admitted that his injured forearm is still affecting him, despite a commanding first-round victory at the French Open. The 19-year-old Spaniard defeated Juan Ignacio Londero in straight sets but revealed that he is managing expectations due to the nagging injury.

Low Expectations Due to Injury

Alcaraz said that he is "not expecting much" from himself at Roland Garros, given the condition of his forearm. He has struggled with the injury for several weeks and is unsure when he will be fully fit.

"I'm not expecting much because I'm not feeling great with my arm. But I'm trying to do my best," Alcaraz said. "I'm just trying to manage the pain and see how far I can go."

Aggressive Tennis Despite Injury

Despite his injury concerns, Alcaraz displayed his trademark attacking tennis in the first round. He hit 32 winners and broke Londero's serve six times, while only facing one break point.

"I'm just trying to be aggressive and not think about my arm," Alcaraz said. "I'm just trying to play my game and see what happens."

Second Grand Slam of the Year

The French Open is the second Grand Slam tournament of the year, following the Australian Open in January. Alcaraz reached the semifinals in Melbourne but was forced to withdraw due to an ankle injury.

The Spaniard is hoping to improve on his best result at Roland Garros, which is the third round in 2021. However, his injury concerns may make it difficult for him to challenge for the title this year.
