Boland takes six wickets in second innings; Bairstow impresses with brilliant century

Stokes in visible pain with side injury, hits 66 off 91 balls

England were bowled out for just 68 in little over an hour on the third morning of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba, with Scott Boland taking six wickets for Australia.

The tourists resumed on 220-7, a lead of 58 runs, but lost their last three wickets in quick succession to Boland, who finished with figures of 6-7.

England's innings lasted just 23.4 overs, with only Jonny Bairstow (35) and Ben Stokes (34) offering any resistance.

Bairstow was hit on the finger by a Pat Cummins delivery early in his innings, but he battled through the pain to score a gritty half-century.

Stokes, meanwhile, was clearly struggling with a side injury throughout his innings, but he managed to hit six fours and two sixes in a valiant knock.

Australia now lead by 196 runs with nine wickets in hand. They will resume their second innings later today.
